Jamaica Qualifies for First Winter Olympics in 12 Years

Everyone is talking about a sequel to Cool Runnings after the Jamaican bobsleigh team qualified for their first Winter Olympics in 12 years.  Jamaica debuted in bobsleigh in Calgary in 1988, and their memorable underdog story inspired the hugely successful Cool Runnings.  They slowly improved over the next few Olympics, but after 2002, failed to even qualify.  Now the team is celebrating qualifying, but also struggling to raise money for Sochi, asking fans for help.  If they do make it to Russia, there’s no doubt that they’ll be the most talked about story of the bobsleigh competition.
